ELDOA™ Certification Program

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The ELDOA™ certification program consists of 6 levels, spread over a course of 3-4 years. Each level teaches the theoretical aspects of ELDOA, including relevant anatomy, biomechanics and physiology, while emphasizing the practical application of the technique with numerous practice sessions where students learn the coaching principles and factors of progressions of the ELDOA, and start to develop the eyes and practical skills necessary to become a good ELDOA practitioner.

ELDOA TRAINER CERTIFICATION: In order to become a Certified ELDOA Trainer, students need to successfully complete and show competence of the content of Certification Levels 1, 2 and 3. There is a written and practical test in front of Guy VOYER.

ELDOA THERAPIST CERTIFICATION: Each level builds on top of the previous level. In order to become a Certified ELDOA Therapist, students first need to successfully complete Level 1-3 before advancing to the therapy modules, which starts with Level 4.

Who should attend?

Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Exercise and Movement Practitioners, Experienced Personal Trainers, Pilates instructors, Yoga teachers, Sport and Remedial Massage Therapists, Sport MDs. Any committed health and fitness professional who seek to deliver unparalleled result to their patients and clients.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What makes ELDOA such a unique postural technique?
You probably know that your posture isn’t perfect but it feels normal. At the same time you may try to correct your posture and even though it looks right, it just feels wrong. That’s because the information sent to your brain from your body is skewed.

The ELDOA simultaneously addresses the various receptors your brain relies on to direct your posture. ELDOA exercises work with your own limitations of range of motion, soft tissue tension, muscle strength and body awareness all in relation to gravity, while simultaneously improving them all. You're altering the range of motion, the awareness and perception of the new range and the body’s capacity to achieve, feel and maintain that new range and beyond as a norm.  You’re updating both the software and the hardware.

Are there any contraindications for doing the ELDOA?
The main contraindications are severe osteoporosis, brittle bone disease, cancer of the bone and people with hypermobile EDS (Ehler’s-Danlos syndrome) with joints that dislocate easily.
Due to safety precautions we don’t recommend certain ELDOA exercises for pregnant woman after the 1st trimester due to increased abdominal pressure in some of the positions.

What language is the course taught in?
English

Do you recommend any pre-course studying or reading?
Anatomy of Movement by Calais-Germani
Gray’s Anatomy - 1901 Edition
The physiology of the joint: The Vertebral Column by Kapandji
(for ELDOA 2)
The physiology of the joint: The Upper Limb, Lower Limb, and Trunk (for ELDOA 3)

What are the prerequisites attending the courses?
There are no prerequisites to enter the Level 1 course. For all preceding Levels the previous levels are the prerequisite.

What should I expect during the course?
You should expect an inter-professional group of personal and athletic trainers, physiotherapists, osteopaths, Pilates and Yoga instructors, chiropractors and sometimes, medical doctors. Group size can be anywhere between 6-20 people. The mixed group works really nicely as everyone brings their own expertise to the table while learning something new, especially during the exercise practice. The therapists may give a helping hand to the trainers on palpating the correct spinal segment while the trainers may help the therapist with coaching principles.

What is the structure of the course?
Each course consists of a number of lectures interspersed between exercise practice where the content is applied. Approximately 70% of the time is dedicated to the practical execution, progressions and coaching of the exercise techniques while around 30% is spent on lectures and presentation. The second and third mornings of the course will start with a collective group exercise session consisting of the learned material.

Is there an exam at the end of the course?
There is no exam in Levels 1, 2 and 3 courses. The first exam, written and practical, will be at the Level 4 course to qualify for ELDOA Trainer. There are examinations the Level 5 and 6 courses for the ELDOA Therapist title.

Is there any homework I need to set aside time for after the course/in between courses/levels?
Your homework after completing the course is to continue the practical application of the learned materials on your clients and patients.
Also we highly recommend you to continue to learn and deepen your understanding your knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics following the course manual and our recommended list of readings.

Do I have to complete the whole training program before I'm able to start using techniques? Can I call myself a practitioner if I've not completed the whole training program?
Our philosophy is to learn by doing so you should start using the techniques rightaway. Upon completing the course you will practice the material under the title ELDOA Student practitioners +the level completed, until graduating as an ELDOA Trainer.

I’m not a health & fitness professional but I would like to learn the exercises for my own and my family’s back and joint health. Can I attend the course?
Absolutely. We do have clients attending our training courses. Although your foundational knowledge may be different to practicing professionals, you will learn the exercises the same way as the other. You will learn everything needed to be able to safely and effectively perform and teach the exercises.

What should I bring to the course?
Please bring comfortable clothes to change into for the practical sessions and a small towel. Exercise mats will be provided. Also please bring a notebook to take notes in. Detailed course manual will also be provided.

Where should I stay?
Our London courses are normally held at the Old Diorama Arts Centre (Regent's Place, 201 Drummond Street, London NW1 3FE) close to Euston and Warren Street stations.
